Bristol Brabazon is being built on the former Filton Airfield, at the heart of Brabazon.
It sits on the Henbury Line and will serve the new homes, workplaces, student accommodation and Aviva Arena at Brabazon.
The location places the station within easy reach of North Bristol’s major employers, including Rolls‑Royce, Airbus, BAE Systems and GKN Aerospace.
The West of England Combined Authority and Great Western Railway have accelerated work on Bristol Brabazon station. It is now expected to open as soon as Autumn 2026 as part of MetroWest Phase 2.
The station sits on the Henbury Line, forming part of the MetroWest Phase 2 route.
Trains will start at Henbury, call at North Filton, continue to Ashley Down, and terminate at Bristol Temple Meads, the region’s main transport hub.
Once at Bristol Temple Meads, passengers will be able to connect to rail services across Bristol, the West of England and the wider national network. This includes frequent local, regional and long‑distance services to destinations such as Cardiff, Birmingham, Bath, the South West, London and beyond.
When services begin, trains on the Henbury Line will run every hour. Bristol Brabazon will be served by the hourly MetroWest Phase 2 service, connecting Henbury, North Filton, Ashley Down and Bristol Temple Meads.
Over time, the wider MetroWest programme aims to increase train frequency across the region as demand grows.
The station is being built by Network Rail, working in partnership with the West of England Combined Authority (WECA) as part of the MetroWest Phase 2 programme.
Bristol Brabazon station is mainly funded by the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority, with additional contributions from South Gloucestershire Council, Bristol City Council, North Somerset Council, and Great Western Railway (GWR). Network Rail is a key delivery partner.
Yes, there will be public car parks within easy reach of the new station, and allocated parking for blue-badge holders at the station itself.
There will also be ample covered cycle parking, as well as a taxi rank and Metrobus stops nearby to allow for easy onward travel.
The station formerly known as North Filton is now called Bristol Brabazon.
North Filton station has been renamed to locate it within the Brabazon neighbourhood in which it now sits.
Until Bristol Brabazon is operational, Patchway, Bristol Parkway, and Filton Abbey Wood are the closest railway links to Brabazon, each typically within a 10-minute journey by car.
Major services through these stations connect Brabazon to Bristol Temple Meads, London Paddington, Cardiff Central, the Midlands, Somerset, and the South West.
